Frequently Asked Questions

The price of a remap differs depending on which vehicle you have and which tool we need to use to tune it. To give you an idea, our stage one remapping prices start at £250. This is for vehicles that we can tune via the OBDII port. Vehicles that require the ECU to be physically removed wil cost slightly more. The best thing to do is to use our contact tab and request a quote by providing us with your registration number.

CPC Tuning will complete a FULL diagnostics health check of your vehicle. This will include reading any warning codes displayed and analysing the live data provided to ensure your vehicle is running as it should before the tune. If there are any issues, we will always discuss this with you before installing the new software.

A remap will alter the software inside your ECU. This makes the timing of different functions work in the most efficient way for your vehicle. When each vehicle is made in the factory, a standard software is installed that fits criteria across a range of countries and continents. Often these are far away from what is optimal in this country. Providing the vehicle being tuned is healthy, this will likely improve your emissions and will not effect them enough to throw your MOT into a failure.

Essentially, we  increase the amount of power through your engine and component parts. We will never increase this to more than what your vehicle can safely handle. Almost all vehicle manufacturers release the exact same vehicle but with differing BHP options. This is solely manipulated by the software installed onto the ECU – allowing them to make more money for a higher BHP model. ECU Remapping from CPC Tuning will not alone cause issues for your vehicle mechanically. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure their vehicle is in good health. A remap may expedite underlying issues you weren’t aware of that may need attention slightly sooner because of the increase in power. This is not to do with the map we install, but the overall general health of the vehicle.

This will depend on the individual insurance company. Some will charge, some won’t. You need to notify your insurance company of every modification made to your vehicle since it came off the production line. This includes things like changing the wheels to alloys or blacking out your rear windows. Remapping is no different.

Potentially, yes! Having your vehicle tuned is a modification. Manufacturers may argue that your vehicle (or particular part) would not have failed had it not had the remap. This doesn’t mean it is unsafe, it just means that the warranty company may refuse payment if you have had your vehicle modified. This will be stated in their terms and conditions. If you are unsure, it is always worth checking first!
